When you are pregnant the last thing you want to do is anything that may damage your future child. Many pregnant women have many questions about how or even if they should fly while they are pregnant. Generally it is considered safe for women who are pregnant to travel by air, but you should always check with your doctor before flying. Below are a few things you should be aware of before you fly while you are pregnant.

Check Ahead
Each airline has different policies for women flying while pregnant. It is important that you either check the website of the airline you are traveling with or simply call them. They may have specific information they need to give to you concerning your flight and accommodations. It is also important that you check with your doctor before flying. Though flying is safe for most healthy pregnancies there are certain situations where a pregnant woman should not fly. If this is the case your doctor will let you know. It is also important to note that the safest time to fly is during the middle of your pregnancy as the possibility of a miscarriage is at its lowest during this time.

During the Flight
There are also some things that you can do while flying to ensure your future child's safety as well as maximize your comfort. The first thing you should do is keep your seatbelt on for the entire flight. Getting an aisle seat will also help to give you more space and stay comfortable. It is also important to stay hydrated while you are flying. It is a good idea to purchase a water bottle at one of the shops after you go through security. The final thing you should do if you are pregnant and flying is keep your circulation going. You can achieve this by taking walks up and down the aisles as well as extending and stretching your legs in your seat.
